Project overview
The kitchen-wall brief
Commissioned by a cheese shop that wanted "something customers smile at while queuing", The Big Cheese outgrew the brief and joined the permanent collection. The small mouse is called Crumb. The big one declines to comment.
- Medium: archival giclée, 12 pigment inks
- Sizes: 8×10" to 24×32", framed or unframed
- Edition: open, signed by the studio
Approach
Poppy orange, hold the subtlety
Some pieces whisper; this one announces. A single poppy-orange ground, a cheese wedge in full golden glory, and two blue-grey mice for cool contrast. The holes were placed with genuine compositional theory and at least one cheese tasting.
Kitchens, dining rooms and delis — anywhere food is loved. The original hangs in the cheese shop that started it all, where it has reportedly increased smiling by a measurable amount.
Results
Our most affordable print and the top pick for gifts. Framed sets of The Big Cheese and Desert Domes outsell every other pairing two to one.
