Project overview
Shelter, but make it cheerful
Drawn after a studio road trip through the Southwest, Desert Domes imagines a desert where shelter is transparent and neighbours wave. Each dome holds a small story — a reader, two kids, one watchful dog.
- Medium: archival giclée, 12 pigment inks
- Sizes: 8×10" to 24×32", framed or unframed
- Edition: open, signed by the studio
Approach
One orange, three temperatures
The whole piece runs on a single burnt-orange ground. Warmth comes from the sun and sand; cool relief from the white dome glass and the small teal shadows. Limiting the palette kept five characters and a dog feeling calm instead of crowded.
Café owners love it — three hang behind a Brooklyn counter, and the owner reports a weekly question about where they came from. Kitchens and playrooms are its natural habitat.
Results
A fixture of our Bestsellers collection and the most-gifted Marrowbank print. The dome motif now appears on our packaging tape, which collectors have started collecting too.
