Project overview
Waiting out the shower
Sketched during a week of April showers that trapped the whole studio indoors, Rainy Day Pals is our love letter to doing nothing. The monster isn't sad — just patient, dripping quietly while the pines do their thing.
- Medium: archival giclée, 12 pigment inks
- Sizes: 8×10" to 24×32", framed or unframed
- Edition: open, signed by the studio
Approach
Teal washes, violet patience
The challenge was rain you can hear. We layered translucent teal washes for the downpour, then dropped the violet monster in last so he sits inside the weather rather than in front of it. The log grounds the composition; the puddles took four attempts and one studio-wide vote.
Collectors hang it in reading corners and nurseries — somewhere about patience. It pairs beautifully with Forest Guardian for a two-print woodland wall.
Results
Our best-selling print three seasons running, and the piece visitors photograph most at art fairs. A framed 18×24" hangs in the studio as the official mascot of slow afternoons.
