Project overview
Bedtime, in violet
Night Castle began as a bedtime doodle for a studio toddler who insisted castles were "sleepy houses". The tendrils below the hill are friendly — they hum, according to the same authority.
- Medium: archival giclée, 12 pigment inks
- Sizes: 8×10" to 24×32", framed or unframed
- Edition: open, signed by the studio
Approach
Dark, but never scary
The brief we set ourselves: the darkest piece in the shop that a four-year-old would still love. Deep violet grounds, a warm cream moon, and exactly five lit windows — enough to promise company, few enough to stay sleepy.
Bedrooms are its kingdom. Parents write to say it ended the fear-of-the-dark phase; we take no credit but accept all thank-you drawings, which now paper the studio kitchen.
Results
Our most re-ordered nursery print and a staple of designer-specified kids' rooms. A large framed edition watches over the studio's own reading nook.
