Project overview
The gallery wall favourite
Drawn for a group show on the theme of courage, Brave Heart stole the exhibition. Two sold-out editions later, the original hangs in our studio — ringed by the thank-you notes it keeps collecting.
- Shown: Courage group show, 2024
- Editions: two sell-out runs of 100
- Status: retired — similar pieces in the shop
Approach
Friendly, on purpose
Skulls default to menace, so every choice here pushes the other way: blush-red heart, rounded skull, dashed halo ring, drips that read as paint rather than anything darker. The blue ground keeps the whole thing airy — a badge, not a warning.
It became our most gifted piece for hard times: get-well-soon presents, exam-season encouragement, new-job nerves. Art can't fix those weeks, but it can sit on the wall and keep company.
Results
Two editions of 100, both sold out within a season. A gallery owner in Portland reordered twice in one month. The design is retired from print, but its spirit lives on across the current collection.
