Hanging a Gallery Wall That Flows

Forest Guardian anchoring a colourful wall

Gallery walls fail for one reason: no anchor. Pick your biggest, boldest piece first — may we suggest Forest Guardian — and build everything else around it. Three layouts that never miss:

1. The anchor + satellites

One 18×24" centred at 57 inches, with two or three 12×16" pieces orbiting at 2–3" gaps. Works above sofas, beds and sideboards. Keep frames consistent; let the art vary.

2. The salon grid

Four to six same-size prints in a tight grid with 2" gutters. Calm, modern, and forgiving — a crooked frame here hides better than in any other layout. Our 12×16" size was practically designed for this.

3. The staircase climb

Follow the stair angle, keeping frame centres on an imaginary line parallel to the bannister. Mix sizes freely; the diagonal does the organising. Start at the bottom with the boldest piece and lighten as you climb.

The rules that hold them together

One wall, one frame family. Gaps between 2–4", never wider than the smallest frame. And paper templates first — cut newspaper to size, tape it up, live with it for a day. Your future self, drill in hand, says thanks.
